Our Mission

The Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York (DDAWNY) is a collaborative group of member voluntary agencies that provide services to people with developmental disabilities.  While honoring individual agency missions, it is the intent of the Alliance to assist agencies to develop relationships, promote unified strategies and share risks for the mutual gain with and for the benefit of people with developmental disabilities.

Coalition of Self-Advocates & Parents PDF

The Coalition Of Self-Advocates & Parents is for Individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members.

The Coalition is a DDAWNY initiative to network together the various Parent Support groups and Self Advocacy groups throughout Western New York. It consists of representatives of over 40 groups identified by DDAWNY and listed out in our Coalition Directory. Coalition meetings take place a minimum of four times a year and information is regularly sent to member groups to keep them aware of the activities of the Coalition as well as other pertinent information on events, legislative concerns, etc. that would have impact on people with developmental disabilities.

a loved one who has developmental disabilities who currently resides in a living situation out of your home or may need one now or in the near future, you need to join this informed group of family advocates. We are demanding changes in Albany for our loved ones.

Housing Resource Book


The DDAWNY Coalition for individuals with developmental disabilities and their family members (Consumer Coalition) has put together a Housing Resource Book for people with disabilities and their families in the Western New York area. The book has information on what is available and who to contact if they are interested in buying, renting or moving into agency housing. 

The  Housing Resource Guide is updated as of March 2009.

American Worker: For a satirical look at the plight of Direct Care Workers, visit this website,  developed by United Cerebral Palsy and ANCOR, WhoWillCare.Net.  The site pits "Flip the Fry Guy" against "Carrie Caregiver" as the two contestants sing their hearts out for a raise and to become the next American Worker.
